After nearly 3 month no rehearsals in Shanghai due to my vacation in Europe and the Olympic games in Beijing the rehearsals started after the Summer again.
It was good to see so many well known faces and friends again. There were some new faces too. It was good to play together and look at new music.
We rehearsed some new music, because 2 concert are coming quick.
It was a pity to hear that Milky will leave the orchestra because she graduated and start a new job. I hope the job will be great. Thanks for all the Emails and work!
This Summer I could tell my friends in a Dutch orchestra of Nieuwegein about this orchestra in Shanghai.
I went with them to Austria for a music week. We played in Austria Schumann's 4 Th symphony and other music together with members of an Austria orchestra.
We rehearsed every morning, in the afternoon we went sightseeing or hiking and in the evening we rehearsed, played different music in little groups , had a drink and fun.
I saw a house where Frans Lehar lived, a forest and lake were Brahms composed.
The last two evenings we had a concert. The first in a little Church. It is always difficult to fit a whole orchestra in a small space.
The second concert we wanted to play in the garden of a small castle, but it was very rainy and we played the concert in the gymnastic hall of a school.
Afterward we had a small party and the next morning we went back to Nieuwegein by bus, a 15 hour bus ride.
But it is good to be home and play again in Shanghai. I hope we will have a musical and a fun year!
